Bits + Pieces IV

Bits and pieces of our life lately…

Since the end of May, our family has been busy and going through a lot. The blog has taken a back-burner, but I finally had some time to sit down and write a few posts. Today I want to catch up on some of the fun things we have been up to in the month of June!

At the end of May into early June, we took an amazing vacation to Estes Park Colorado with my entire family! I am the youngest of four kids so we have a big family now! 18 people in total including 9 kids ages 13 – 3 months! We had such an amazing time hiking, playing games, eating and just being in the same cabin (we are usually spread all across the US). It was a great vacation and I find myself going back to that week many times in my head! I love my amazing family!

| We announced to our family on vacation that we were expecting baby number three. Unfortunately, we learned the next week at our first ultrasound that we had lost the baby due to a partial molar pregnancy. That began a whirlwind week of grieving, surgery, recovery, and healing.

| After that terrible week was over it was time to get back to “normal” life. It’s a strange thing to go through that loss and not be able to mope around at all. It’s a good thing in many ways that life just has to go on. I still had to be a wife, keep up with the house, be a mom to my gals, and just keep going. In many ways, it was helpful to have to just keep going.

| Back to normal actually felt really good after the initial shock. Loss makes you see the things you have right in front of you in a different light. My girls and their daddy are the biggest blessings, and I am so thankful that I have them by my side.

| One thing I tend to do when life seems out of my control (which really is always) is throw myself into projects to keep busy. Something I can control. I spent most of the end of June redecorating, reorganizing, and doing various projects like redoing Nora’s dresser. It was not only fun but therapeutic in a way!
