| Ivy is sitting up so much better! She can sit for minutes at a time and rarely falls unless she’s lunging for a toy.
| We have a scooter! Really I could say she’s crawling, she moves pretty fast and can get about anywhere she wants. It isn’t a classic crawl position yet, but she’s getting close!
| Little Tiny now has two bottom teeth! I wasn’t expecting them at all since Nora didn’t get teeth until 9 months. They make Ivy so much cuter… didn’t know it was possible!
| Ivy has always been a grunter, but now she’s a growler! She loves to growl and it’s so cute!

LOVES all toys. She is very interested in any kind of teether. She also loves big sister’s toys!
LOVES taking a bath. This is still her favorite thing ever. I think she loves baths more than mommy and daddy.
LOVES swinging at the park. A new found favorite this month. She smiles the whole entire time she’s in a swing.
LOVES food. She is far more interested in table food than nursing these days.

HATES being put down or left alone when she is tired. She still gets so cranky when she’s tired.
HATES waiting to eat when she knows it’s comin’.
So glad there are more loves than hates!

Up until last week Ivy was still nursing about every three hours. Taking about 5-6 ounces and eating solids at breakfast and dinner.
Last week I began gradual weaning. For many reasons (ask and I’ll tell, I’m an open book) I can tell it’s just time for both of us. However I wanted the transition to be slow rather than suddenly stopping. So I did some research and began the process of gradual weaning. I am cutting out one feed (replaced with a bottle) each week. I started with the second feed of the day (around 8-9am), then this week am also doing a bottle at the third feed (11-12am). The first and last will be the last feeds to go. So the whole process will take 4-5 weeks and then she will be fully on formula. Luckily she will take a bottle of just formula well, but she often gets a mixture of breastmilk and formula in her bottles.
The timing will be perfect! She will be about 8 months old once she’s weaned and starting to eat some table foods by then! It will also be right abound the holidays when we do lots of traveling and family get togethers, so the convenience of bottle feeding will be so nice!
Right now she is loving solid foods. She has a fruit and oatmeal in the morning and vegetables and little fruit in the evening. She literally loves every single thing she has tried! Soon we will start practicing with puffs and a few small finger foods! She loves taking drinks of my ice water and whines until she gets some when I have a glass in front of her.

I’m convinced there has never been a more inconsistent sleeper than Ivy Corinne Smith. Every night it like a little surprise. Will Ivy wake up in the middle of the night, or will she sleep through? No one knows. Most nights she goes down at 7pm and is up at 5am to eat then back down until 6:30-7am. Then sometimes she randomly decides to wake up at 12, or 2, or maybe 3. And the only way to get her back to sleep is to nurse her. Literally nothing else works, and trust me I’ve tried it all.
What Ivy lacks in nighttime sleep she makes up for in naps. She is a great napper and I am thankful for that. She is still taking 3 naps, but the 3rd nap is phasing itself out sloooooowly.
Here is Ivy’s typical daily nap/sleep schedule.
|5:00am wakes up, eats and goes back down in her crib until 7am.
| Morning nap between 8:30-9am. This nap lasts about an hour and a half.
| Afternoon nap between 12-1pm. This nap is typically two hours!
| Ivy takes a cat nap in the evening so she can make it to bedtime. It’s typically around 5pm and is only 30-45 minutes.
| Bedtime routine is at 7 and she goes down fast!
You are such a mystery sometimes. You have such a strong little personality already and it sort of scares me for the future. But for all your difficulties, you are also the sweetest little thing! You smile so big it melts our hearts. You absolutely love your sister, no one makes you smile like her. When you stick your sweet little tongue out and make the cutest little noises I am done for. You have no idea how much you are loved little one.
