Two Months

On May 26th Ivy turned two months old!

Weight | 11lbs 9oz

Length | 23 inches

Hair | Ivy’s hair is getting lighter and lighter. Right after a bath when her hair dries and isn’t oily, it is super light. We have a little blondie! She still has tons of hair and it is so wild! It’s one of our favorite things about her though!

Eyes |  Right now they are blue like all babies but I am doubting they will stay that way with 2 brown eyed parents. Nora has big ol’ brown eyes too, but I can’t remember when they changed.

Clothes | Girlfriend is now oficially in 0-3 month clothes. Nora didn’t make that switch until she was 3 months old! Ivy barely made it a whole month in her newborn clothes. But I’m okay with that, some of my favorite outfits of Nora’s are in this batch of 0-3 month clothes! One of the best things I did was organize the baby clothes so well. It was so easy to make the switch in her drawers!

Diapers | We ended up being able to finish out all our newborn size diapers. The last few she was squeezed into, but I did not want to waste half a box! She is now in size 1!

Sleeping | Just like Nora, Ivy started doing longer stretches at night right at seven weeks. It is such a nice surprise that first night they sleep so long! Here is a typical night for Miss Ivy now.

8:00pm – Last feed

9:00pm – asleep for the night

3:00 /4:00am – awake to eat

6:30/7:00am – awake to eat and up for the day

So nice to be getting longer stretches at night! I typically like to stay up until 10:00 so I can have some time ALONE with Collin, so I get 5-6 hours uninterrupted! Ivy is still really good about eating quickly and going right back down. So most nights I am only up a half hour now! Then I get to go back and get another hour or two!

I was so sure I wanted to put her in her crib once she started doing those longer stretches, but I’m just not ready yet! This second time around I am finding myself so nostalgic! Really holding onto all the little things that I know I will miss because I missed them with Nora!

Eating |Breastfeeding is still going great! Around week 6 Ivy started to only nurse for about 10 minutes on the first side, then five on the other and would cry and pull off and on. I couldn’t figure out what was going on and I messed with my diet a little to see if that was it, no dice. Then I thought it had a correlation to me waking her up occasionally to eat during the day, still no change. Finally after getting a little frustrated one night I just stopped trying and she was perfectly happy.

So I think I have figured out her issue, and it is a great “problem” to have. Ivy is just a fast and efficient eater! She takes about 8 minutes per side and is done! This is such a blessing after all the breastfeeding issues with Nora. It took an hour or more to nurse her all the way up until I weaned her at four months.

Likes |Ives finally loves the bath, I now bathe her and Nora together and it is the sweetest thing! Nora has the job of pouring water on Ivy’s feet, and she takes her job very seriously!

She loves being swaddled, laying in the bouncy chair and looking out the window while we all eat breakfast. She loves any and all attention, especially from Nora. She smiles so much now, it’s adorable! She loves the “toot routine,” moms with gassy babies ask me about this! It will save your life!

Dislikes |She is a pretty happy baby most of the time. She does not like being in her car seat unless she is moving. The minute the car stops she knows and cries. She still doesn’t love having a dirty diaper, but it doesn’t seem to bother her as much anymore. Also still not a fan of getting lotion put on after a bath.

Milestones/Other | Ivy was watched by her first babysitter Saturday night so mommy and daddy could celebrate their 6th anniversary! Her Aunt Tobi got to cuddle her all night! She did great and takes a bottle like a champ!
