If you know me, or have been following my blog for a while you know that we have two dogs who were our babies before Nora came along.
I never had a dog growing up, we were a cat family, but I married a big dog lover. So, I became a dog owner and was forever changed!
It’s true that our dogs have moved down a few notches since Nora came along, but I think that’s only right. However, we still really love our pups, and I think they deserve some screen time on the blog!
If you are not a dog lover, you will not care for today or tomorrow’s posts. Sorry! I just need everyone to formally meet our mutts! They really are the best!
Oh Kira! She is such a confusing pup! Or at least my feelings for her are so confusing. She is the best and worst dog all wrapped into one adorable lanky, white frame.
She was the first dog I ever raised from a puppy and boy was she a rough one. She took forever to potty train, hated her kennel, was a runner, a chewer, and took forever to learn how to walk on a leash. I actually remember crying on the kitchen floor to Collin after how I wanted to take her back after the first three days. I had no idea what I was doing with training a puppy and they are so much stinkin’ work!
Luckily, Collin talked me down and assured me that it would get easier.
And it did!
It only took about two weeks for me to fall in love with sweet Kira. She was still a ton of work, but I started to learn all the wonderful things about her too. Plus, have you ever seen a more adorable puppy?
After getting to know Kira (or Kiki as we lovingly call her), I learned that she is fiercely loyal. She loves all the humans in our family with her whole little puppy-dog heart. She knows when someone is hurting, and will stay right by their side. She has a ton of energy, and while that can be obnoxious it also makes her a lot of fun! She loves food, playing fetch, snuggling real close, and being wherever the action is.
She has nothing but pure love in her heart, and is amazing with all other animals and people. She is wonderful with Nora, and loves to give her kisses all over (she is our licker). If Nora gets too much in her business, Kira just moves away. No need to growl or get upset. She just removes herself from the situation, which is perfect!
She still has her moments of driving us insane with her high-strung personality, but knowing how much she loves us and how protective she is, I love having her around.
Kira, you are definitely the crazy one in the family, but we love you just the same. Wouldn’t trade you for the world!
