I’m a bit late on this post, but they are some my favorite to reread so I couldn’t forget to do it! They are a lot of work to write, but oh so worth it in the end!
When I first think of 2017 overall, it doesn’t seem all that eventful. Not an overly amazing year, but not a bad year either. I’m not sure where I am getting this idea because 2017 actually brought a ton of changes for our little family. Arguably some of the biggest of our family’s lives so far. I am glad I am writing this post because it caused me to look at 2017 with a completely different perspective. In fact, if I were to choose a word for this past year I think it would be “changes.”
So many blessings and unexpected events! Here is a look back at our 2017!

| January 2017 |
| Nora turned 11 months old and I still say it was one of my favorite months ever (so far).
| I was blogging like crazy at this point and was just full on ideas (where did they all go?).
| We celebrated Christmas and New Years in Kansas with my family.
| We bought a Roomba. If you know me, you know how this was literally a highlight of my year. I love Reggie!
| I committed to reading 17 books in 2017. Spoiler alert, I read a whopping 6 books. Oops.

| February 2017 |
| Nora turned 1, and I truly understood what all the momma’s mean when they say, “the days are long, but the years are short.”
| We threw a big party for our toddler. We also decided that not every birthday party will be so big. Too. Much. Work.
| Collin turned 27, and learned that from now on his birthday will be overshadowed by his daughter. Luckily, I don’t think he minds one bit!
| At the end of the month the weather was amazing, I started taking Nora to the park a few days a week after school. It is still her favorite place to be!

| March 2017 |
| This was a big month for me, as I announced to my school and everyone else that I would no longer be teaching. It was an incredibly emotional decision, but it was most definitely the right one.
| Nora got her first haircut and was a champ. This also was the beginning of her love for suckers!
| March brought amazing weather (not too common in Missouri), so we made many fun outings as a family.
| Collin went on a five day business trip, so it was just us gals for a whole week. We had fun, but we sure were glad to have our guy back!

| April 2017 |
| March was a big month for me, but April was a big month for Collin. It was in April that he was offered the position as Campus Pastor at our church. We took a week to talk it over and pray about it. Then, after that week it was made official! Everything was kept hush-hush for a while, but a lot was happening behind the scenes.
| We spent every possible minute outside. Lots of walks, porch playing, and backyard time. Nora is happiest outside!
| We celebrated Easter. Nora had her first egg hunt in our back yard.

| May 2017 |
| We celebrated Mother’s Day and the many May birthdays on my side of the family.
| On May 16th I taught my last day in fourth grade. It was incredibly bittersweet and many tears were shed. I was sad to leave, but so excited and expectant to begin my journey as a SAHM!
| Since summer had arrived, I really started blogging a whole lot more. I look back at old posts and miss those days. (Maybe this summer I’ll feel inspired again. Oh wait, I’ll have a newborn and a toddler…)
|I planted my first ever garden expecting it to fail like all the flowers before it. Turns out if you water things regularly, they do pretty well 😉
| At the end of the month Collin and I celebrated five blissful years of marriage! I really am a lucky gal!
| We began trying for baby number two! TMI?

| June 2017 |
| We spent many Saturdays at our local Farmer’s Market. It’s one of our favorite things to do in the summer.
| We decided to get rid of our TV, and still have not had one in our house since.
| Collin went to a conference for our church in Springfield. It’s a halfway point for my parents in Kansas so they met us there and we made it a mini vacation!
|My best friend married the love of her life! I was honored to be her matron of honor and Collin and I sang in the ceremony.
| We created a summer bucket list and began checking off some of the activities!
|My black thumb turned green when my garden started producing veggies!

| July 2017 |
| We celebrated the 4th with a “quiet” night at home. Collin lit off some fireworks for Nora, then we snuck outside to watch fireworks from the porch after she went to bed.
| Nora and I began going on donut dates a few mornings a month. Donuts are my favorite food and I really wanted to share that love with her!
| It began to get pretty hot towards the end of the month so we had to get our outside time in on the porch in the mornings. Mornings with Nora on the porch were one of my favorite memories in the summer. I would sip my coffee while Nora played!
|On July 21 we found out we were expecting baby number two! We were overjoyed and told our families as shortly after!

| August 2017 |
| At the beginning of the month we went to Gulf Shores with Collin’s family. It was so fun to see Nora experience the beach for the first time! She loved the sand, but I think her favorite was the pool!
| Everyone was going back to school by mid-August and it felt strange to not be joining them. I would be lying though if I said I missed those first days of school. It was an odd emotion, but I knew I was in the right place.
| At the very end of the month we announced our pregnancy to the world! It felt so good to have the secret out!

| September 2017 |
| I celebrated turning 27 on the first of the month. Collin teases me because I can never remember how old I am!
| My baby bump came out loud and proud this month! Second babies don’t wait around!
|I finally finished Nora’s baby book. It is one of her favorite things to look at now!
| It was a pretty low-key month spent living ordinary ol’ life.

| October 2017 |
|We put our house back on the market once we settled some plan with Collin’s new position. It was very slow in the beginning and we got a little bit worried.
| Collin began his last month at his marketing and sales job. He went out with a three day business trip, so us girls roughed it without him.
|I had some intense nausea with this pregnancy, which I didn’t experience with Nora. It only lasted about a month and October brought the relief from that. It felt so good to feel like myself again!
|We celebrated Halloween and took Nora to our churches Trunk or Treat. It was a huge success and Nora acquired a love for candy!
| At the very end of the month Collin worked his last day at his office job. He was sad to leave the people, but not the position. Mostly he was excited to begin his new position as a campus pastor!

| November 2017 |
|Collin began his new job as campus pastor. He loved it from the start, and I really love having him around a little more often.
| The weather got colder and we soaked in our last days of playing outside.
|We decorated our house for Christmas, for what would be the last time.
| At the end of the month we received an offer on our house! Sold!
|We took a trip with my family after Thanksgiving to The Creation Museum and The Ark Encounter. I highly recommend both!
| We had our 20 week ultrasound and baby looks healthy as can be. We are waiting to find out the gender until he/she is born!

| December 2017 |
|In December we began all things moving. We got things packed up and began the process of having the church parsonage renovated to live in.
| We mostly spent the whole month on December getting ready to move. It was a long, busy, tiring process.
|We went to Kansas before Christmas and had a great time celebrating with my family.
| Christmas day was cancelled for us because multiple members of Collin’s family had the stomach flu. Luckily we had celebrated with his parents and sister’s family earlier in the month.
|We moved and closed on our house on the 27th. What a whirlwind.
| We were able to celebrate New Years with Collin’s family to make up for missing Christmas.

So as you can see, it was an eventful year! I am so excited to see what 2018 holds! I know a certain little someone who will most likely be the new shining star. Of course we are excited to meet this baby in 2018, but we also cannot wait to watch Nora grow and to see where God leads our family!
