Nora Kate | Month 12

A little late on this post, but the birthday photos took priority and these slipped my mind. One whole year of Miss Nora Kate in our lives. All I can say is… what a wild and fun ride.

| Walking everywhere. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I saw her crawl. She is starting to “run” too which is really cute!
| New words! Nora’s vocabulary now consists of: “mama”, “dada”, “uh-oh”, “ca-coo” (thank you), “nana” and “amen”
| Not really climbing yet, but I see the beginning of it! She often tries to “climb” in the bathtub while I am running her bath water.
| Many fun new motor skills, here are all the ones she can do now: clapping, click her tongue, smack her lips, blow kisses, wave, stomp feet, dance (aka bounce), turn book pages and “read”.
| Went to a park to actually play for the first time and she LOVED it. Walked around like she owned the place and reached up to be held by just about every mom there.

LOVES books. They are still her absolute favorite and it makes my teacher-heart smile!
LOVES going to the park.
LOVES being thrown “from the floor to the ceiling” by dad.
LOVES walking and “jumping” on the couches and bed.

HATES being told no. #toddlerlife
HATES having any taken away from her.

Nora is still the best eater! She is now exclusively on table foods and eats just about whatever we have for dinner each night. She loves her Grammy’s Italian Vegetable Soup and all kinds of fruit. She also had sugar for the first time at her party and she is a fan. Since then she hasn’t had much cause I would hate for her to inherit mommy’s awful sweet-tooth. She really will try and likes just about everything, except apples. We are also in the process of weaning her off formula and switching to whole milk. That was not going so well until we started doing part formula, part milk and now she is drinking it. We will see how it goes as we increase the amount of milk.

Broken record over here, but she is still the best sleeper. She is still taking a morning nap, but does fine if she misses it. I will be sad to see it go, but I sense that it will be leaving soon. Schedule really hasn’t changed much, but for the sake of my future mom-brain I will write it down anyway.

Here is a rough schedule:

|Wakes up at 6:30 – has been sleeping in until 7-7:30 on weekends! AMEN!

| Morning nap around 9am which usually lasts an 1-1.5 hours

| Afternoon nap around 1pm which usually lasts about 2 hours

| In bed and asleep by at least 7:30pm every night

Believe me, we realize how blessed we are. I know mostly it’s her temperament but we also attribute a lot of this to putting her on a strict schedule and Cry It Out.

Oh Nora Kate,

I cannot believe it has been one whole year that you have been in our lives. In some ways it seems like you have always been here and I cannot imagine life without you. In others, it feels like it was yesterday that my water broke and 8 hours later you arrived. No matter how long it seems, it has truly been the best year ever! You make out lives so full and bring so much meaning to our day-to-day life. I am so excited (and nervous) to begin the journey of being a toddler mom, but I have a feeling I will love it! Mommy and daddy love you very much!
