On one of my many snow days last week The Hubs and I decorated sugar cookies, one of our Christmas traditions. It’s a really fun way to celebrate the season together and it doesn’t taste too bad either!
Here is the sugar cookie recipe I use and the frosting too.
3 cups flour
1 TSP baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 TSP vanilla extract
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla to mixture. In separate bowl, mix together flour and baking powder. After first mixture is creamed, slowly add dry ingredients. After all ingredients are mixed knead dough until smooth. Roll into ball, wrap with plastic wrap and chill for 20-30 minutes.
After chilling, roll and cut out desired shapes. Place on baking sheet with parchment paper and bake for 7 minutes. Take out of oven and let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes.
Chill overnight before frosting.
No measurements, I just eyeball it and taste test!
