There are not too many newlyweds out there who have a very large budget, in fact I can’t think of any I know at the moment. It takes time to establish your finances and it is a lot of work to learn to share and manage money as a couple. But it has to be done and this can mean that money is tight, but even when money is tight you wanna go on dates with your honey! I have come up with a list of ten budget friendly date ideas. Some The Hubs and I have done and the others we will do someday for sure! *Thrown throughout the post are pictures of some dates the hubs and I have gone on!
Cook At Home
Yea, you might do this every night but make it special this time. Turn your kitchen into a restaurant, put a fancy table cloth on the table and light a candle. Prepare the food together and make it fancier than usual. Dress up like you were going on a fancy date. Makes for a fun night and saves you some major cash!
Go On A Walk
The Hubs and I L.O.V.E. to go on walks, we do it as often as we can. We both love to be outside and we have a nice neighborhood to walk in. It is always a great chance for us to talk about anything and everything. Cost absolutely nothing and comes with a great view.
Go To An Art Gallery
It may not seem like something you want to do but it really is a lot of fun. I am no artist but can appreciate art. Most art galleries are free and have a really neat atmosphere. After walking through, tell each other what your favorite piece was.
Fast Food Progressive Meal
Simple, it goes something like this. Get some potato ole’s at Taco Johns for an appetizer. Then head over to McDonalds for a Big Mac and fries. After this get in line at Wendy’s for a frosty! Cheap and an adventure. Tip: don’t go right at dinner rush or you will spend most of your night in the drive-thu line.
Rent a movie or pick a favorite that you own. Head to Wal-Mart and get some 98 cent movie candy, pop some popcorn and get a drink. Load your couch with pillows and blankets and turn off all the lights. Turn the volume up as loud as you want… unless you have neighbors. This is even better than the theater cause it wont cost you ten dollars a ticket and you can cuddle as much as you want!
This could be real camping in the woods or just camping in the living room. It is always fun to change things up and sleeping on the couch for a “campout” is a great way to do that! You can even go all out and make s’mores and hot dogs.
At Home Dance Party
Clear the living room floor, crank up the tunes and dance! Cheap, fun and a great workout too!
Dessert Only Date
Who says you need to have dinner at all? Just have a night of desserts! Lots cheaper than ordering a whole meal anyway. Although in my house we would have to get real food at home first cause The Hubs doesn’t have a sweet tooth like me.
Thrift Shop Date
The Hubs came up with this one a long time ago and we have yet to do it. You and your significant other go to a thrift store and pick out outfits for each other to wear for the date. You can go either silly or be serious and find them some nice clothes. Then you go somewhere cheap like bowling or a cheap restaurant in your new digs!
A classic picnic is a great way to save money. Make sandwiches or a nicer meal and take it to a park or your back yard. Budget friendly and a nice change from your normal eating locations!
So now you have no excuse to not go on a date when money is tight! Whatever you are doing with the one you love just make sure to have fun and be together!
